Mr Vusi Baleni

Vusi Baleni is a professionally registered Civil Engineer (Pr.Eng) and Construction Project Manager (Pr.CPM) with over 10 years of experience in municipal infrastructure, socio-economic development, and property development. He currently serves as a Principal Project Manager in the Real Estate: Property Development Services unit.

Over the course of his career, Vusi has gained extensive experience in the planning, design, and delivery of basic services, housing, schools, healthcare facilities, social infrastructure and large-scale mixed-use developments across South Africa. His background includes hands-on engineering design and implementation, as well as leading multi-disciplinary professional teams from project inception through to close out.

Vusi’s professional journey has also included a focus on socio-economic development, where he developed and implemented strategies aimed at maximising social and economic impact through infrastructure projects. This included initiatives such as enterprise and skills development, local participation, and job creation – ensuring that infrastructure delivery also supports inclusive growth.

In recent years, he has led major strategic projects including the Gauteng Rapid Land Release Programme, an initiative to fast-track the delivery of housing through the development of state-owned land, as well as the Mogale City CBD Sub-Precinct Programme, which seeks to revitalise the Krugersdorp CBD into a vibrant regional economic hub. Through these projects, Vusi has demonstrated strong leadership, vision, and a commitment to sustainable, people-centred development.

With his technical expertise, leadership ability, and purpose-driven approach, Vusi continues to make a meaningful contribution to unlocking South Africa’s development potential.
